William C. was born in 1797 in Houston Waters,Bourbon,Kentucky. William C.'s father was Shadrach Pierson and his mother was Rachel Clinch. His paternal grandparents were Charles Pierson and Sally Weathers; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Clinch and Jean Clinch. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Bartholomew, James Weathers, Shadrach , Jr., George Washington, Henry Clinch, Frances, Nancy, Sally and Casendoneia. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.-
