John A. May 
John A. was born about 1823 in Washington County,Tennessee. John A.'s father was Samuel May and his mother was Mary "Polly" Million. His paternal grandparents were Cassimore May and Mary Horne; his maternal grandparents were John Million and Sarah Booth. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Cassimore E., George, James G., William, Samuel F., Eliza and Mary Ann. He was the oldest of the eight children.-
