His paternal grandparents were Piers De LUTEGARESHALE and Maud De MANDEVILLE; his maternal grandparents were William De SAYE and Aufrica De Scotland. He had a brother and a sister, named Geoffrey De and Maud. He was the youngest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, William De, Cicely and Hawise.
