His maternal grandparents were John Henry Walter and Rachel Ann Conner. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Loren, Wyatt Emmett, Edward Leland, Mary Irene and Emma Lou. He had a half-brother named Bill. He died at the age of 70 on September 15th, 1977 in Cisco,Illinois.-
