Joan was born in 1588 in of Wonastow,Mitchel Troy,Monmouthshire,England and her baptism took place in (10-1598). Joan's father was Henry (Harry) Herbert Esquire and her mother was Lucy Somerset Lady. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Herbert Sir Knight and Anne Lucy; her maternal grandparents were William Somerset *E Worcest and Christian North.
