Florentia was born in of,Montgomery,Montgomeryshire,Wales. Florentia's father was Richard Herbert Lord Herbe and her mother was Mary Egerton. Her paternal grandparents were Edward Herbert Lord Herbe and Mary Herbert Lady. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Edward, Henry, Thomas, John, Arabel, Mary, Catherine, Frances and Alice.
