Mary (Polly) was born in 1825 in Barron County,Kentucky. Mary (Polly)'s father was Shelton Gentry and her mother was Sarah (Sally) Staton. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Gentry and Sarah Brock; her maternal grandparents were poss.Jehu Staton and Mehala UNKNOWN. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Jesse Frank, David, Sarah Elizabeth, Martha Jane, Susannah (Susan), Elizabeth and Nancy. She died at the age of 75 on December 24th, 1900. She was buried in Log Creek Cemetary,Pike County,Indiana.-
