Lewis Dewees 
Lewis was born on October 11th, 1769 in Kent County,Delaware. Lewis' father was Joshua Dewees and his mother was Elizabeth Bowman. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Dewees and Mary Coburn; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Bowman and Sarah Clark. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Samuel and Anna. He was the second youngest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William, James, Jethro, Joshua, Elizabeth and Mary.-
