Newton Cunard 
Newton was born on May 30th, 1847. Newton's father was John Cunard and his mother was Nancy Johnson. His paternal grandparents were Edward Cunard and Judith Hirst; his maternal grandparents were George Johnson and Susanna. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Elbert, Henry, James Clark, Susan A., Eliza Jane, Sarah Ann, Caroline and Marthena. He was the third youngest of the nine children. He had three half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Columbus, John , Jr., Mathias, Manervia Ann, Frances N., Jumina, Eveline, Mary, Matilda and Nancy.-
