Her paternal grandparents were Unknown Rivard and Francoise Chasteau; her maternal grandparents were Robert Rheaume and Marie-Françoise Chevreau. She had five brothers named Pierre Nicholas Rivard, Michel, Nicholas, Marin and Sebastien. She was the second youngest of the six children.-
