Marie Magdalena (Lena) Moessner 
Marie Magdalena (Lena) was born on May 2nd, 1859 in Ihringen, Baden, Germany.1 Marie Magdalena (Lena)'s father was Wilhelm Moessner and her mother was Anna Maria Birmelin. Her paternal grandparents were Johann Jakob Moessner and Christina Boehl; her maternal grandfather was George Friedrich Birmelin. She had a brother and three sisters, named Fredrich, Anna Maria (Mary), Maria Barbara (Barbara) and Anna Katharin(Katharine). She was the second youngest of the five children. She died at the age of 73 on November 9th, 1932 in Tacoma, Washington.1 General Notes

Lena grew up in Ihringen, Baden, Germany and attended the same school as Wilhelm Sommer. When old enough, all children were expected to work in the field, but Lena was thought to be too frail and was given other chores. Lena followed Wilhelm to New York City and arrived on Dec. 1, 1880. She got a job as a seamstress in a local business sewing buttonholes in men's vests until her marriage.\
Lena was a very small woman who loved to sing and play cards.
