His paternal grandparents were King Pepin III of Franks (Le bref -The short) and Bertrade(Bertha) of Laon (Bertha Broadfoot); his maternal grandparents were Duke Gerold I of Swaben and Imma (Emma) of Allemania. He had two brothers and a sister, named Charles of Aachen, The debonaire and Bertha. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Charles of Aachen, Hugo, Duodene of France, Alpais (Adaltrude), Duodene of France and Alpais (Adaltrude). He died at the age of 37 on July 8th, 0810 in Milano, Italy.-
