Morten was born in 1863. Morten's father was James M. Young and his mother was Druscilla Headlee. His paternal grandparents were John M. Young and Nancy Louden; his maternal grandparents were Amos Headlee and Anna Nancy Myer. He had four brothers and a sister, named Walter F, UNKNOWN, Linius H, William V. and Anna (Ada).
