Sarah Ellen's father was Jasper Newton Wright and her mother was Laura Frances Stone.  Her maternal grandparents were George Washington Stone and Elizabeth A. Bowman. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Elmer, Ephraim, George Lewis, James Edgar, Rolland Thomas, William Clarence, Dean Elza, Ethel May, Eva Elizabeth and Mary Esther.
