James Clowney was born in 1858. James Clowney's father was Charles McClung and his mother was Mary Hedrick. His paternal grandparents were Edward McClung and Salley Viney. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William, John Alexander, Jennie, Nancy and Nettie. He was the youngest of the six children.-
