David C. was born in 1845. David C.'s father was Carlisle Crockett and his mother was Sarah Matilda Elkins. His paternal grandparents were John Drake Crockett and Jane Cartmill. He had five brothers and a sister, named Robert T., William Wesley, Elgin Eli, Edward, George C. and Sarah M.. He was the oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named William Warrick.-
