Nymphas was born on November 13th, 1833 in Shelby,IN. Nymphas' father was Bernard Handy Bassett and his mother was Hannah Elizabeth Wilson. His paternal grandparents were Nymphas Bassett and Thankful Bruce; his maternal grandparents were James W. Wilson and Nancy McCarty. He had six brothers and five sisters, named James Madison, Milton, Isaac Wilson, Thomas J., John Mayler, Stephen H. Douglas, Mary Lucinda, Charlotte, Lydia A., Nancy Jane and Agnes C.. He died at the age of 62 on March 28th, 1896.-
