Joan de was born about 1192 in ,Stoke,Devonshire,England.1 Joan de's father was William de Briwere Lord of Horsley and her mother was Beatrice de Vaux. Her paternal grandparents were Henry de Briwere and Joan de Vernon de Redvers; her maternal grandparents were Rainald de Dunstanville Earl of Cornwall and Beatrice Fitz William Countess. She had four sisters named Margaret de, Grace de, Isabel de (Brewere) and Alice. She was the youngest of the five children. She died in 1233.2 General Notes
