Thomas was born about January 1377 in Beaufort Castle,Anjou,France. Thomas' father was John "Of Gaunt" of England and his mother was Catherine de Roet. His paternal grandparents were Edward III, King England and Philippa Hainault; his maternal grandparents were Payn de Roet and Catherine de Hainault.
