Empress Ermengarde was born about 0800 in Alsace,France.  Empress Ermengarde's father was Hugues III Count Of Upper Alsace and her mother was Ava Alsace.  Her paternal grandparents were Luitfrid Il Count of Alsace and Hiltrude Alsace; her maternal grandparents were Girard Of Paris and Rotrude Rotrou Austrasia. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Luitfrid III Count Of Upper, Hugh Comte De, Bertha De, Adela Adelheid De and Aelis of Alsace &. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Eberhard, Torquat (Tortulfe), Hugh I Count of, Eticho II, Hugh II Count of, Ermengarde, Bertha and Adelaide Ermengarde de.  She was buried in Erstein Abbey,Strasbourg.1

‌Empress Ermengarde and Lothaire I of were married in a religious ceremony in Thionville,Moselle,France.2   They had four sons and six daughters, named Valtrude, Louis II King of Italy, Charles, Lothaire II King of, Ermengarde Duchess of, Ermengarde Princess of, Princess Irmgard of Roman, Helletrude, Rotrud and Gisle Princess Of.
