King Robert II of France 
King Robert II of was born in Orleans,France. King Robert II of's father was Hugues "Capet" King of France and his mother was Adelaide Aquitaine. His paternal grandparents were Hugues Magnus Duc de France and Hedwige Saxony; his maternal grandfather was Gullaume III de Aquitaine. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Robert "The Pious" of, Princess Gisela of, Adwige (Avoise), Princess, Alice Princess of, Gisele Princess of, Princess Hadwig of, Princess Adele of and Adele of. He had two half-brothers named Baron Joscelin of and Gauzlin Archbishop of. He died on July 20th, 1031 in Meulan,Mellent,Normandy. He was buried in Abbey of St. Denis,Paris,Seine,France.General Notes
Robert II (of France), called Robert the Pious, King of France (996-1031), the son of King Hugues Capet, born in Orléans, and educated at Reims under the French scholar Gerbert, who later became Pope Sylvester II. In 996 Robert married, as his second wife, his cousin Bertha of Bourgogne. Two years later Pope Gregory V excommunicated him and annulled this marriage, which was considered incestuous by the church; in 1003 Robert submitted to the pope and married the daughter of the Marquis of Provence, Constance of Arles, by whom he had four sons. He recognized Hugo, the eldest of these sons, as his successor. After Hugo's death in 1025, the other sons, aided by their mother, revolted; Robert was still fighting them at the
time of his own death.
