Her paternal grandparents were Arnoul I Count Of Flanders and Adele (Alice) (Alix) Vermandois; her maternal grandparents were Hermann Billung of Saxony and Hildegarde von Westerbourg. She had two brothers and a sister, named Arnoul II, Jean of Tonnbridge and Maud St Dame.
