Her paternal grandparents were Renaud I Count Palatine of Burgundy and Judith Alice of Normandy; her maternal grandparents were Raymond Berenguer II (III) Count of Barcelona and Maud de Hauteville. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Etienne I "Tete-Hardi De, Raymond de, Ermentrude of, Sibylle (Mahaud) de and Clemence De. She was the second youngest of the six children.
