His paternal grandparents were Paskwitan II, Duke of Britain and LADY Berenger; his maternal grandparents were Henry I "The Fowler" King of Germany and Countess Matilda Ringelheim. He had two brothers named Martin, Seigneur of Vitre and Meen Seigneur of Fougeres. He was the oldest of the three children. He had six half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Henri, Duke of, Lothair Carolingien, King of, Carloman Prince of, Louis Prince of, Charles I le Gros, Duke of, Henri Prince of, Alberade de, Gerberga of, Wiltrude, Duchess of, Mathilde Princess Of, Hildegard Princess of, Alberade Princess Of and Hildegardin, Princess of France, Countess of.
