Count Friedrich of was born in 1240.  Count Friedrich of's father was Count Lothar I of Are-Hostaden and his mother was Princess Mechtild of Vianden.  His paternal grandparents were Dietrich III ARE-HOCHSTADEN and Liutgsrd Of Dagsburg. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Count Lothar II of, Archbishop Conrad of, Princess Margarete of, Princess Jutta of, Princess Elisabeth of, Princess Mechtild of and Princess Adelheid of.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
