Velma was born on July 8th, 1914 in Monroe Co., Indiana. Velma's father was Perry Smith and her mother was Ruth Etta Glascoe. Her paternal grandparents were John Smith and Elizabeth Eads; her maternal grandparents were John William Glascoe and Catherine Katy Deckard. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Elbert, Delbert, Herman, Eithel Harold, Lloyd, Minza Leona, Elsie, Grace, Ruby Floene and Ruby Floene. She died at the age of 86 on May 4th, 2001 in Monroe Co., Indiana. She was buried on May 7th, 2001 in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana.General Notes
