Gasper Koons 
Gasper was born on January 17th, 1792 in Ashe Co., NC. Gasper's father was Gaspar Koons and his mother was Mercy Presnell. His paternal grandparents were Hans Diebold Cuntz and Margaret Suan Dick. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George K., Devault, John, Martha, Mary and Girl. He had eight half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Son, William, Nathan, Joseph, Jessie, Samuel, Jeremiah, Benjamin, Susanna, Hannah and Rachel. He died at the age of 85 on August 25th, 1877 in Indiana. He was buried in Koontz Cemetery, VanBuren Township, Monroe Co., Indiana.General Notes
Gasper was received by request into the Quakers at the Back Creek Monthly
Meeting, NC, on July 27, 1793.
He was received into the South West Branch Monthly Meeting of the Quakers
in Ohio on June 25, 1808.
He joined the Whitewater Monthly Meeting when it opened on Sept. 30,
1809. On Dec. 29, 1810 he was reported for drinking spirituous liquor to
excess and using profane language, being condemned for that offense on
Jan. 26, 1811.
He appears in the 1810 census for Ashe Co., NC.
He may have been the Gasper who entered 80 acres of land in Lawrence
Township of Marion Co., Indiana in Feb. 1824.
Gasper did purchase section 26 of Van Buren Township, Monroe County, IN.
in 1825.
In 1850 Gasper farmed in Van Buren Township, Monroe Co., IN. The value of
his property was $700.00.
In 1860 Gasper Koons lived in Van Buren Township with his wife Elizabeth
and daughters Nancy and Mary.
In 1870 Gasper lived alone on his farm in Van Buren Township.
Gasper died Aug. 25, 1877 at Indiana Creek Township, Monroe Co. and was
buried in the Koontz Cemetery, 397 West Duvall Road, Van Buren Township,
Monroe Co., IN.

Gasper and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony in 1812. They had seven sons and five daughters, named John Thomas, William, Henry, John, Eli, Allen, Freeland, Sarah W., Martha, Nancy, Mary Jane and Minerva.

Henry was born on May 2nd, 1819 in Ashe Co., NC. He died at the age of 71 on June 14th, 1890 in Gosport, Owen Co., Indiana. He was buried in Koontz Cemetery, VanBuren Township, Monroe Co., Indiana.
