Francis A. was born in 1861. Francis A.'s father was Emanuel Chitwood and her mother was Eliza Jane Cox. Her paternal grandparents were David Chitwood and Sarah Richardson. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Isaac Milton, James Marion, John Leander, Nathaniel D., George W., Levina, Elmira E. and Minnie F.. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
