Maurice was baptized September 13, 1914 at Sacred Heart Church. The priest was Philip Rittmeier, OFM. The sponsors were Henry Seegers and Anna Wessie. Maurice married Crystal McIntire on February 17, 1936. He had known Crystal for several years, even as a sixteen-year-old at Tech High School. At that time, Maurice took a job with Taystee Bread Bakery in Indianapolis as a salesman. He stayed at this position until 1941 and then the grocery store was purchased. It was his first venture. Maurice and Crystal were fairly successful, but then the war took over and meats, sugar, coffee and many things were hard to come by. They stayed at the store until early 1952 and then sold out. In the meantime, Maurice had bought property in the south suburban area and gotten interested in building houses. He stayed at the building business from 1954 to 1964. At that time, Maurice started in cultured marble making cabinet and vanity tops for the building trade. He spent 11 years at the trade and sold out in 1975. After retiring, Maurice was home about 2 weeks when Crystal died August 17, 1975.
