---Source: James R. Griffin Sr. - (3-30-2001) James and his family are
caretakers of the Griffin Cem.,near Bell Smith Springs Park, PopeCo., IL. He writes, "William P and Elizabeth lived their married life in Pope County. I have a copy of their marriage license. William P. obtained land from the Illinois Public Land Tract Sales on July 30, 1855. He got 200 acres in four different parcels. These parcels are now the Shawnee Forest and part of Bell Smith Springs Park. The cemetery is located on the left side of road going to the park, about a mile from it. Elizabeth and William P. donated the land for the Cemetery where they are interned. I have a copy of the deed. Also they both have a very nice tombstone, that somebody in the family put up in the later years. I have also a very nice sign that will be put up this spring."
