Azubah was born about 1786 in New York. Azubah's father was Justus Brockway and her mother was Alice Gardner. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Brockway and Margeret Smith; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Gardner and Elizabeth Olin. She had seven brothers and seven sisters, named Justice, Benjamin Gardner, Jesse, Samuel, George, Ezelah, Simon, Elsa Diadama, Elizabeth, Lucy, Rweanah, Clare, Clarimond and Thankful.
