Nellie Alice was born on August 3rd, 1873 in Carl, Adams County, Iowa.1 Nellie Alice's father was William Henry Varner and her mother was Nancy Emily Fitzgarrald. Her paternal grandparents were John "Johnny" Varner Jr and Irena Emma Andrews; her maternal grandparents were Davis Fitzgarrald and Elnor Henry. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Lorandis James, Ancil Davis, Frank Arthur, Clarence Elze, Jesse Addison, Ollie Ray, Charlotte Irena, Ora Elvin and Lena May. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 76 on March 21st, 1950 in Los Angeles, California.1 -
