Mary Esther was born in April 1835 in Washington County, Ohio.1   Mary Esther's father was James Rinard and her mother was Rachel Minney.  Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Rinard and Easter Elder. She had six brothers and four sisters, named John M, Orillo, Hamilton Parr, James F, George W, William H, Jane, Rebecca, Margaret and Victoria.  She was the oldest of the eleven children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John M, Orillo, Hamilton Parr and Mary Esther.
