Jesse M. was born on January 26th, 1798.1 Jesse M.'s father was Levi Pennington and his mother was Elizabeth Ray. His paternal grandparents were Levi Pennington and Martha. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Levi, Benjamin, Isaac, William M., John, Joseph, Solomon, Noah, Elizabeth, Rachel, Sarah and Mary. He was the fifth youngest of the thirteen children.General Notes
Brothers Benjamin, William M., Jesse, Solomon and Noah all moved to Fayette, then Sanford (now Lamar) County, Alabama.
