Charles Gilbert was born on February 22nd, 1882 in AR.1 Charles Gilbert's father was John Wesley Upperman and his mother was Mary Jane Hutchins. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Jefferson Hutchins and Sarah Cooper. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Jefferson, William M., Claude Edward, Benjamin Harrison, John Wesley, William Dillard, Sarah Anna Rebecca and Nancy Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the nine children.-
