The date of Mary's death is taken from research done by my great aunt gladys and uncle james. The death date was taken from some of this research found by them. Supposedly from the trip they took to missouri some time ago.
This is what i have about Mary E. Powell Mcalister--
wife #1 Mary E. Powell Mcallister died on or about November 1, 1871 - of typhoid fever. They lived 6 miles south of Butler, Missouri - bates county. After her death James moved to Schuyler County Missouri. Then the research goes onto read: niece of Mrs. A.J. Powell's husband. They were married 10/28/1866 - from the newspaper in Lancaster, Mo dated November 3, 1866.
Do you know when and where your g'ma sarah powell came to get the children?
I also have a date on Sarah "simmons" death it was 7/15/1880. Did she marry into the family of simmons?
By the way I am going to Missouri on Thursday of this week with my great Uncle Floyd. He knows where James is buried. So i will look to see if Mary Powell is there also. If so i will send you a picture. My uncle says the directions to Brushey Cementary are: go to Unionville, Mo and turn left.
I know that James and his 2nd wife Nancy Catherine Wrightman are buried there. She is my great g'pa's mother. (Albert "Ross")
You may have guessed that i do have alot of relatives living. My g'ma Irene was only 16 when my dad was born and then she was 38 when I was born.
I found out also from my great uncle that Charley (James'brother) lived in Norman, Okla and had 1 son. Then his sister Marude lived in Lawton, Okla.
