Thomas Jefferson was born in 1843 in New Bloomfield, Callaway, Mo.1 Thomas Jefferson's father was James Henry POWELL and his mother was Sarah Ann MC DONALD. His paternal grandparents were Anthony POWELL and Elizabeth Miller; his maternal grandparents were Francis Marion MCDONALD and Sarah. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Anthony, Francis Marion, James A., Charles H., Sarah E., Malinda Anne, Amanda Catherine, Martha Jane, Mary Elizabeth and Rebecca F. Sue. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. He died due to Influenza at the age of 85 on March 19th, 1928 in Summit, Callaway, Mo. He was buried on March 21st, 1928 in Prospect Cmty, Callaway, Mo.2 2 General Notes

Notes: Newspaper Article - Mrs. Carrie JONES. Census indicates that he was a farmer. In 1972 , Thomas wrote to James Russel Powell stating that he was in a state nursing home in J onesbu rg, Missouri.
Newspaper Obituary: "Native Callawegian Dead: Thomas Jefferson Powell, 86 years old die d a t his home, west of Holt Summit, monday morning, after an illness extending over a perio d o f several months. Burial was in Prospect cemetary at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, f ollo wing a short funeral service at the grave. Besides his wife he is survived by two daugh ters , Mrs. Walter Jones, of Hartsburg and Miss Sallie Powell, at home, and six sons, henry L ee, James, Thomas and John, of southwest Callaway, Seth, of St. Louis, and Albert, of Fulton. "
