Ragnhild was born about 1078 in Of, Orkney, Orkney Islands, Scotland.1 Ragnhild's father was Paul THORFINNSSON JARL OF ORKNEY AND CAITHNESS and her mother was Ragnhild HAAKONSDATTER. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Haakon (Haco), Brynjolf, Thora, Ingrid (Ingerid) and Herbiorg. She was the second youngest of the six children.
