John was born about 1526 in Castle Hanley, Worchestershire, England.1 John's father was Richard of Arle LYGON and his mother was Margaret GREVILLE. His paternal grandparents were Richard LYGON and Anne Beauchamp; his maternal grandparents were William GREVILLE and Margery ARRELL. He had three brothers and six sisters, named William, Henry, Ferdinando, Anne, Ursula, Margery, Susanne, Elizabeth and Barbara. He was the youngest of the ten children.-
