Charles 
Charles was born in 0772 in Of, Aachen, Rhineland, Prussia.1 Charles' father was Charlemagne and his mother was Hildegarde. His paternal grandparents were Pepin and Bertrada of Laon; his maternal grandparents were Gerold I of Swabia and Imma of Alemania. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Pépin (Carloman), Lothaire, Louis I "The Pious", Adélaïde(Adelheid), Rotrude, Bertha, Gisèle and Hildegarde. He was the oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Abbott Of Saint Quentin and Aupais Alpais.1 -
