Gist Vaughn 
Gist was born about 1732 in Baltimore Co., MD. Gist's father was Abraham Vaughn and his mother was Edith Gist. His maternal grandparents were Richard Gist and Zipporah Murray. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Christopher, Abraham, Richard, Nancy Ann, Millicent and Zipporah. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died on June 27th, 1800 in Baltimore Co., MD.General Notes

He was listed as a hunter in Capt. Christopher Gist's Company in Virginia
in 1755 (Va. Mag. Haist. & Biog. Vol 2 pp 44-46) He was mentioned by his
uncle, Christopher Gist, in a letter written to George Washington on July
30, 1756, as in command after Deserters. He was appointed Major,
Baltimore Co. Militia, 1757.
