Barton Henderson was born about 1840 in Lancaster Co., PA. Barton Henderson's father was Jarvis Beckett Mott and his mother was Isabella Jane Henderson. His paternal grandparents were Edward Mott and Faithful Slaymaker; his maternal grandparents were Barton F. Henderson and Elizabeth Slaymaker. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Amos, Henry, Oscar, Charles Spring, Fidelia H., Elizabeth H., Harrietta and Estellas. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
