Joseph Gist 
Joseph was born on September 30th, 1738. Joseph's father was William Gist and his mother was Violetta Howard. His paternal grandparents were Richard Gist and Zipporah Murray; his maternal grandparents were Joshua Howard and Joanna O'Carroll. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Thomas, John, Ann, Sarah, Elizabeth, Violetta and Ellen. He was the oldest of the nine children.General Notes
