Ann was born in 1860 in Leeds.1  Ann's father was Richard Rollisson and her mother was Sophia Marshall Hemingway.  Her paternal grandparents were William Rollisson and Mary Pickersgill. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Alfred, William, Fred., Ellen and Jennet.  She was the fifth oldest of the six children.
