Her paternal grandfather was Henry George Evans; her maternal grandfather was John Rosier and her maternal grandmother is <Unknown>. She had a brother and a sister, named Charles and Sheila. She was the oldest of the three children. She had six half-brothers and five half-sisters, named George, Walter, Leslie, Albert, William, Nicholas, Ina, Emily (Betty), Rose (Dolly), Margery and Doris.
