Wilfred was born about 1895 in Rotherham, Yorkshire.1   Wilfred's father was Joseph WINTER and his mother was Lousia STEER.  His maternal grandparents were STEER and Hannah STEER. He had three sisters named Elsia, May and Dorris.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
