Elsia was born about 1894 in Rotherham, Yorkshire.1   Elsia's father was Joseph WINTER and her mother was Lousia STEER.  Her maternal grandparents were STEER and Hannah STEER. She had a brother and two sisters, named Wilfred, May and Dorris.  She was the oldest of the four children.
