Robert was born in 1901 in Wandsworth.  Robert's father was Lewis Steer and his mother was Margaret Geale.  His paternal grandparents were William Tipper and Jane Steer. He had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, George, William and Mary.  He died at the age of 59 in 1960 in Chelsea.
