Olive was born about 1904 in Itchingfield Sussex.1   Olive's father was Moses Steer and her mother was Jane Francis. She had a brother and seven sisters, named James, Frances, Emily, Emma, Beatrice, J, Ethel and Kathleen.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.
