Violet was born about 1892 in Sittingbourne, Kent.1   Violet's father was Joseph STEERS and her mother was Lucy STEERS. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Charles, George, Amelia, Mary Ann and Lucy.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
